Hundreds of Grade 7 and 8 boys and girls on 21 teams took to the pitch on April 19 for the annual Abbotsford Middle School Sevens Rugby tournament.
Fields at Abbotsford Middle and Abbotsford Senior saw athletes compete in four different divisions for city titles and tournament trophies.
There was also a fastest runner competition and most valuable player t-shirts distributed to an impact player from each team.
The Grade 8 divisions had two tiers and Langley’s D.W. Poppy finished ahead of W.A. Fraser Red in the Tier 2 division. Chief Dan George went undefeated on the day and downed W.A. Fraser Black to take the Tier 1 title.
The Grade 8 boys Tier 2 final saw a dominant Chilliwack side finish ahead of Chilliwack’s AD Rundle to take top spot. The Tier 1 final had W.A. Fraser Black edge Clayburn to take home the championship trophy.
