Abbotsford Police pulled over the driver of a pickup truck believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run collision with a train on Monday night.

Abbosford Police are investigating a collision last night between a pickup truck and a train.

The crash took place at about 9:15 p.m. in the 32100 block of Townshipline Road. The train was not moving at the time.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the driver fled the scene after the collision, but an area resident was able to provide police with the vehicle description and location.

The 27-year-old driver was stopped a short distance away and is now under investigation for a hit-and-run collision and impaired driving.

MacDonald said the driver was lucky to have not suffered serious injury.

"Obviously, the outcome could have been much different and much more severe than simply being pulled over by police," he said.
