Brief History:
The Abbotsford Police Department has served the community since 1955, when it was called the Matsqui Poiice Department. On Jan. 1, 1995, the municipalities of Matsqui and Abbotsford amalgamated to be called the City of Abbotsford.
The APD is dedicated to providing the highest quality of police service to the citizens of Abbotsford. The department is grouped into six branches â patrol, operations support, criminal investigation, support services, finance and budget, and human resources.
The department consists of almost 220 officers, more than 100 civilian staff, and more than 80 volunteers.
