The London Drugs location at Abbotsford’s Highstreet Shopping Centre will close in a few months.
A London Drugs spokesperson confirmed to The Abbotsford News that the decision is being made “due to a variety of business factors” and the store’s final day will be June 25.
“The decision to close this location is due to the logistical challenges of this mall location and has no reflection on the talented staff members. We know that this store team is incredibly dedicated, having served the community to the highest standard. We will be working hard to relocate all staff to other stores in the area.”
The spokesperson added that the pharmacy team will assist all patients with transferring their prescriptions to nearby pharmacies and will also be available in the coming months to answer any patient health questions or concerns.

Following that email, London Drugs was asked to expand on what they meant by the logistical challenges of Highstreet, the representative stated that parking issues and poor traffic flow contributed to the decision.
“This location has one of the most confusing mall access points, with very limited parking at our store,” the spokesperson stated. “Traffic flow around the mall negatively impacted our store traffic making it an unviable location for us to operate in.”

The London Drugs Highstreet was an original tenant at the mall and opened on May 31, 2013. The store is 36,219 square feet and also features a 270-square-foot Learning Lab, which allows the store to host various training sessions, clinics, workshops and education seminars.
The store also contains a full-service Canada Post office.
London Drugs is currently in the process of moving its Abbotsford location at West Oaks Mall to a new location on the west side of Sevenoaks Shopping Centre. That store is expected to be finished sometime this year.
