By 9 a.m. a large crowd of customers was lined up in front of the location, waiting to get in. At the front of the line was Darlene Gifford.
Gifford arrived just before 6 a.m. to ensure she would be the first to enter. After a three hour wait and a ribbon cutting ceremony, she achieved her goal.
“‘Well, I came out because I love London Drugs, for one thing. I shop there often. It’s sort of a new thing. This is a new mall and it was really exciting to be a part of it,” she explained.
Gifford and the next two customers to enter received gift baskets to commemorate the opening.
John Tse, vice-president of pharmacy and cosmetics for London Drugs, called Gifford a “dedicated customer.”
“We have great, loyal customers that follow us.”
He was pleased by the crowd that came out.
“We are very excited about this opening because its a new concept store for London Drugs. It’s the first of its kind for British Columbia,” he said.
