Mayor Bruce Banman presented the city's finance and corporate services staff with a certificate of achievement for financial reporting at a council meeting on Monday.
The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Achievement was awarded to the city by the Government Financial Officers Association, based on the 2011 city finance reports.
"The award recognizes excellence in government accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by a municipal government," said Banman.
Abbotsford in one of 52 communities in Canada to be recognized for the award for 2011. The city has received the award every year since 1997.
