Abbotsford mayor and chiropractor Dr. Bruce Banman grew up in Chilliwack and took his chiropractic training in Portland, Oregon, graduating from Western States Chiropractic College in 1997. He moved to Abbotsford in 1982, and is the owner and operator of Banman Chiropractic in Abbotsford.
In his first attempt at a political seat, Banman ran for mayor against incumbent George Peary. Banman won an upset victory on Nov. 19, 2011.
During his campaign, he listed his top three issues as the P3 water project, taxes and city urban planning.
