Abbotsford Agrifair has announced the hiring of Cory Cassel as the new fair manager.

Agrifair president Bob Street said that with Cassel’s more than 25 years of experience in the event industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and natural abilities to the position.

Cassel has had a hand in bringing community events to life throughout the Lower Mainland, including Canada Day celebrations, concert series and festivals.

He has managed venues such as The Stage in Mission and published What’s On! Magazines in both Mission and Abbotsford.

He has also helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for organizations such as the Rotary Club, the Fraser Valley Youth Society and Mission Hospice.

“We are so pleased that Cory has accepted the fair manager position, and we are confident that he will be a great asset to the organization,” Street said.

Cassel is also no stranger to the world of agricultural fairs, having been a 4-H member as well as a contract worker with the PNE Fair agriculture department.

He says he is excited to get started with Agrifair.

“I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work continuing the tradition of Abbotsford Agrifair and celebrating agriculture in the Fraser Valley,” he said.

Street said planning is underway now for the 2024 Agrifair, running Aug. 2 to 4.

“We will have some exciting announcements in the weeks and months ahead so please stay tuned,” he said.

Graham Vanstone served as fair manager for the 2021 and 2022 events, while Melanie Kish – who held the role for several years before him – returned to the position on a temporary basis for 2023.
