Abbotsford council has approved a rezoning application for the development of two six-storey apartment buildings with 89 units on Hillcrest Avenue.

The buildings will be located at 32364 and 32372 Hillcrest Avenue and 2558 Adelaide St.

They will share a two-level underground parade with 128 vehicle spaces and 97 bicycle spaces, according to a staff report to council.

The apartment buildings will consist of five studio units, 47 one-bedroom suites, and 37 two-bedroom units.

They range in size from 318 square feet (29.5 square metres) to 775 square feet (72 square metres).

The staff report predicts that the development will “likely set a precedent for future redevelopment in the neighbourhood.”
