The Abbotsford Farm and Country Market (AFCM) opens for its 21st season on Saturday, May 4 at Jubilee Park.

The market showcases fresh B.C.-produced food, artisan items and liquor products. It is open each week from 9 a.m. to noon until Oct. 26.

Free parking is available, and well-behaved pets on leash are welcome.

Ann Friesen from Friesen Farms, a key vendor and president of the AFCM Society, invites everyone to check out the market this year.

“We’ve really grown into our location at Jubilee Park, and feel we are now a fixture in the downtown,” she said.

“The market has easy access and is very friendly and family-oriented. We’re excited to be starting up again and look forward to seeing our customers.”

The band Each Other kicks off the season’s roster of live entertainment at the season opener.

Fun kids’ activities include a photo wall and yard games on the market plaza, and special treats for all will be served from the info tent.

Market organizers encourage customers to bring their own shopping bags. For those who forget, reusable market bags are available at the info tent by donation to the Abbotsford Food Bank.

Market memberships are also available, allowing member access to select vendor discounts the first Saturday of every month. The cost is $10 for a calendar year.

Customers can also sign up at afcm.ca to receive the Market Thymes newsletter in their inbox each week prior to market day.

AFCM was first established in 2003 and is the city’s longest running farmers’ market.
