The Abbotsford chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles recently donated just over $1,200 to the Starfish Pack program.

The money was raised from an Oktoberfest bash and from a Nearly Neil concert featuring entertainer Bobby Bruce with his tribute to Neil Diamond. Both events were held at the local Eagles Hall.

The Starfish Pack program is run through the Archway Community Services Food Bank. The program provides more than 700 students with food-filled backpacks to take home every weekend.

The packs are delivered to 42 elementary, middle and high schools throughout Abbotsford.

It costs almost $700 to provide one student with the packs each weekend for the school year.
