Abbotsford's Nick Taylor got off to a solid start in the first tournament of the Canadian Tour season.

Abbotsford's Nick Taylor got off to a solid start in the first tournament of the Canadian Tour season, notching a top-10 finish at the Times Colonist Island Savings Open in Victoria.

Taylor shot 67-70-69-68 at Uplands Golf Course to finish tied for seventh at six under par, eight strokes back of winner Andrew Roque, who shot a final-round 61 to rally for a three-stroke victory.

The Ledgeview golfer's share of the $150,000 purse was $4,800. Taylor is back in action on the CanTour this week, at the ATB Financial Classic in Edmonton.

• On the Nationwide Tour, Adam Hadwin tied for 17th at the Mexico Open. He shot 68-71-70-72 to end up at seven under par, good for $9,063. He currently sits 39th on the Nationwide Tour’s order of merit.
