Sports in brief: Miller, Campbell off to Hong Kong for sevens rugby tourney

Spencer Miller and Joey Campbell of the Abbotsford Rugby Football Club will play in a major international tournament in Hong Kong.

Spencer Miller and Joey Campbell of the Abbotsford Rugby Football Club have been named to the B.C. Elite Youth Sevens side for a major international tournament in Hong Kong later this month.

The local duo were among 12 players picked for the provincial U18 side that will travel to the Hong Kong Standard Chartered Bank Youth International Sevens, where they will compete on March 22 against a field of teams from Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Team B.C. won the 2012 edition of the Hong Kong tourney, and Miller, an electric scrum half who traveled with the B.C. sevens program to all three major tournaments in 2012, is the only returning player from last year’s championship-winning side.
