The Robert Bateman Open golf tournament returns to Abbotsford’s Ledgeview Golf Club on Monday, June 10.

The third annual event is a fundraiser for the Robert Bateman Secondary School Golf Academy to help offset the rising costs for the students participating in the program.

The proceeds from the event go directly back to program to help acquire new training equipment, help pay for travel and other expenses throughout the year.

“We hope to build off last year’s success and increase participation and make this year’s tournament a special evening,” stated golf academy coordinator Clarke Wismer. “We have two divisions – the Abby Schools Division to create some inter-district competition and the Open Division.”

The event features a 3 p.m. shotgun start and consists of teams of four players. There will be live and online scoring through Golf Genius. The two divisions features Abby Schools – for all current and former employees of the Abbotsford School District and the Open Division for all non-employees.

There will be prizes for the winners of each division as well as number of raffle draws.

The 2023 Abby Schools winner was Mouat Secondary, while the Open Division winner was We Safety.
