A big night from Max Reinhart lifted the Abbotsford Heat to an impressive road win on Saturday evening.

Reinhart was in on all three goals as the Heat knocked off the Western Conference-leading Grand Rapids Griffins 3-2 at Van Andel Arena.

The sophomore forward set up Carter Bancks's shorthanded goal to open the scoring at 10:46 of the first period, and notched a goal of his own later in the frame.

With the score tied 2-2 in the third, Reinhart drew the primary assist on Markus Granlund's 16th goal of the season, which stood up as the game-winner.

Heat goalie Joni Ortio turned aside 31 of 33 shots to earn his league-leading 17th win of the season, while his Grand Rapids counterpart Tom McCollum – coming off a 3-0 shutout win over Abby the previous night – stopped 33 of 36.

The Heat (26-14-2) wrapped up their six-game road trip with three wins and three losses.

The Griffins, who got their goals from defencemen Nathan Paetsch and Xavier Oullet, fell to 27-11-3 on the season.

The Heat return home to face the Utica Comets, the Vancouver Canucks' farm team, next Friday and Saturday (7 p.m. both nights, Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre).
