The BC Games flag has been a symbol welcoming participants to the BC Winter and BC Summer Games since 1978.  It is an honoured piece that is passed from one Games Host Society to the next as the Games move throughout the province.  The flag has also been the backdrop along with the Canadian and British Columbian flags as thousands of young athletes have been awarded BC Games medals.

A new BC Games flag will be flown for the first time at the 2014 BC Winter Games in Mission, February 20-23.  This flag reflects our new brand and is a fresh and colourful yet respects our long history.

The previous design of BC Games flag was flown in host communities from 1988 to 2012.  Mayors from each of the BC Games host communities during this time frame were sent a flag to remember the Games.

President and CEO Kelly Mann said, “It is our hope is that this flag will become part of city archives or sports halls of fame, recognizing the past accomplishments volunteers and the community in hosting the BC Games.”

Mayor of Abbotsford, Bruce Banman, wrote in response to receiving the flag, “Thank you for your letter and for the BC Games flag for use to keep at our Sports Hall of Fame.  We appreciate the sentiment and feel that the flag will be a wonderful addition and reminder to our community and volunteers of the Games.”

The BC Games Society is proud of our partnerships with cities and communities as without their desire and capacity to host, the BC Games would not be identified as a national leading organization and a community asset.
