Two Abbotsford midget hockey teams participated in the 18th Annual Midget Memorial tournament last weekend, which is also a fundraiser for the local Food Bank. The tournament hosted 24 teams involved in three tiers of play at the ARC, MSA, and MRC arenas.  The winners were the Everett Silvertips (Tier 1), Aldergrove (Tier 2), and the Vancouver Thunderbirds (Tier 3).

The Midget Memorial tournament is held in honour of Diana Anderson, who passed away in 2006 after a long involvement with Abbotsford midget hockey.  Anderson began organizing a hockey tournament on the November long weekend in 1996, and started the continuing tradition of handing out poppies to the coaching staff of participating teams.
