The return of Abbotsford’s ‘Black Mamba’ highlights a jam-packed Mamba Fight Night 6, which occurs at the Abbotsford Centre on March 8.

Local fighter Kultar ‘Black Mamba’ Gill is set to compete in the ring for the first time since 2012 at the show.

Gill, who owns and operates the Mamba Martial Arts Academy in west Abbotsford, has had a storied career in both kickboxing and mixed martial arts. He has competed all over the world and holds a professional record of 12-8 in MMA and 15-4 in kickboxing.

The 39-year-old will take on Montreal’s Marcus “The Loudmouth Assassin” Hicks in his return bout. Hicks has a career record of 20-26, and last fought in September.

Gill’s match is one of 20 scheduled for the night, with several Abbotsford fighters set to enter the ring.

Abbotsford’s Gagan Gill is also scheduled for one of the event’s bigger bouts, as he takes on Cleve Bentley. That match was originally scheduled for MFN 5, which occurred in Coquitlam back in October, but it was cancelled.

Gill captured the Battlefield Fight League’s featherweight title this summer in his most recent match.

Women’s action will be featured when Maple Ridge native Shawna Ram takes on Mercedez Compos in an atomweight bout. Ram has a 2-0 record at MFN events, winning matches at the third event in 2016, and also at the fifth event in October.

Abbotsford’s Blake Bird battles Konstantin Gaivoronskii for the MFN lightweight title. Bird has a 1-1 record as an amateur, and posted a win back at the fourth MFN event.

Making his debut in the ring will be Abbotsford’s Niko Sahamis, who along with his family owns the long-running Greek Islands restaurants. Sahamis challenges Nasser Ghanim in a welterweight division kickboxing match.

Other Abbotsford fighters scheduled to compete on the show include: Rory Gorton, Dustin Parson, Ian Stuart, Jake Hyrcha and Arbaaz Gill. In addition to MMA bouts, the event will also showcase boxing and kickboxing matches.

Tickets are on sale for the event on Ticketmaster, and VIP and table tickets are also available by reaching out to @teammambamma or @kultar_mamba on Instagram. Organizers expect 3000-plus fans to take in the event.
