Kufske, Team Canada win silver at Pan Ams

Brad Kufske of Abbotsford helped the Canadian junior men’s volleyball team to a silver medal at the U21 Pan Am Cup in Panama.

Kufske, a Yale Secondary grad who plays his university volleyball for the Trinity Western Spartans, was a key player throughout the tournament for Canada. He accounted for 11 points – second-most on the team – in Canada’s victory over previously undefeated Chile in the semifinals. He notched 13 points in the gold medal game, which Canada lost in four sets to Venezuela on Monday evening.

For the tournament, Kufske’s 52 points were third-most on the Canadian team.

The Pan Am tourney is a warm-up for the World Junior Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (July 31-Aug. 10).
