Collegiate centre Josh Jooris has joined the mix of players jockeying for a roster spot with the Abbotsford Heat.

Jooris, a native of Burlington, Ont. who played the past three seasons at the NCAA’s Union College, signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Calgary Flames, the Heat’s NHL parent club.

Jooris, who participated in the Flames’ development camp in July, was fourth in team scoring last season at Union with 12 goals and 16 assists in 39 games.

“During our recent development damp he played an aggressive, up-tempo style and displayed good grit and a high compete level,” Flames GM Jay Feaster said of Jooris. “Our staff felt strongly that we should attempt to get him signed, and we are pleased to welcome him to the organization.”
