Jason Hignell, a rugby player from Yale Secondary, helped Team B.C. win gold in the under-18 division at a renowned sevens tournament in Hong Kong.

The provincial side won all three of their pool-play games at the Standard Chartered Bank International Youth Sevens without surrendering a try – they beat the Singapore-based DHL Lions (49-0), the DEA Tigers (35-0) and the Flying Kukris (47-0).

The final was a different story, as they were taken to double-overtime by a local side, the DP Pirates. B.C. ultimately prevailed 12-7.

Hignell was one of 12 players on the squad, and he notched a try during pool play.
