Barry Brust and Quintin Laing of the Abbotsford Heat helped the Western Conference sweep to victory at the AHL All-Star Classic in Providence, R.I.

The West rallied to win Sunday's skills competition 12-11, and followed that with a 7-6 triumph in the all-star game on Monday.

The Eastern Conference opened up a 7-2 lead through four of seven skills competition events, but the West's goaltending trio of Brust, Petr Mrazek (Grand Rapids Griffins) and Justin Peters (Charlotte Checkers) combined to stop the last 14 East attempts in the breakaway relay to complete the comeback.

In the all-star game, Toronto Marlies forward Ryan Hamilton completed a hat trick with 11.2 seconds remaining in the third period, lifting the West to a 7-6 victory. Brust allowed three goals on 16 shots, while Laing did not hit the scoresheet.

The Heat (22-13-7) return to regular season action with a Thursday-Friday set at the Lake Erie Monsters.
