Bearcats women’s basketball team tipping off at provincials

The CBC Bearcats women’s basketball team makes its playoff debut today (Thursday).

The Columbia Bible College Bearcats women’s basketball team hit the court for the first time ever at the Pacwest provincial tournament today (Thursday) at 6 p.m.

CBC finished the season ranked fifth in the conference, and open against the Camosun Chargers in the quarterfinals.

The Chargers won the season series against the Bearcats 2-1, with Camosun winning the most recent meeting 66-57 back on Feb. 10. CBC picked up a 69-61 over their rivals from Victoria on Feb. 9.

The winner of the quarterfinal game then moves on to the semi-finals to face off against the top-ranked Douglas College Royals on Friday at 6 p.m. The Royals feature Abbotsford talents Amber Beasley, Sara Kurath and Karanveer Rai.

Abbotsford’s Carmelle M’Bikata and the Capilano Blues, ranked second, open the event on Friday at 1 p.m.

The tournament, which occurs at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, crowns a provincial champion on Saturday evening.
