Tonight’s the night for the torch to light.
The Abbotsford 2016 BC Summer Games torchlighting ceremony occurs tonight (Wednesday), with the ceremony kicking off at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium starting at 7 p.m.
The official torchlighting takes place at 8:30 p.m. at Thunderbird Memorial Square on Veterans Way.
The event marks 100 days until the beginning of the Games in Abbotsford. The public is invited to attend both events, which are free.
Speeches and local entertainment will occur at both events.
Once the flame is lit outside Thunderbird Square, it will remain illuminated until the conclusion of the Games in July.
The Games run from July 21 to 24 in various locations across Abbotsford.
Over 2,000 athletes are set to descend on Abbotsford for the event.
