Abbotsford Heat left winger Sven Baertschi was named the AHL player of the week on Monday.

Sven Baertschi of the Abbotsford Heat has been named the CCM/AHL player of the week.

The 21-year-old left winger from Switzerland collected three goals and four assists, along with a +7 rating, in a pair of weekend victories over the Rockford IceHogs.

In the opener of the two-game set, Baertschi tied a Heat franchise record with five points, notching two goals and three assists in Abbotsford's 6-3 win. In Saturday's rematch, he scored the game-winning goal and added an assist as the Heat prevailed 5-3.

Baertschi has 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in his past 12 games for the Heat. He was the Calgary Flames' first-round draft choice (13th overall) in 2011.

Baertschi and the Heat host the their final regular season home games this weekend, taking on the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday (7 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.) at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.
