A half-dozen Abbotsford football players helped B.C.'s under-18 team win a bronze medal at the Football Canada Cup in Lethbridge, Alta.

Team B.C. wrapped up the tournament on Friday with a 14-1 win over Ontario in the bronze medal game.

“We’re really proud of the fact we were able to finish in the top three,” Team B.C. head coach Tom Kudaba said.

“Our kids did an outstanding job buying into what we were trying to do on both sides of the ball and on special teams. The effort was outstanding."

The B.C. squad featured six Abbotsford athletes – linebacker Jake Heathcote, offensive lineman Dairien Silva, and defensive backs Henczel and Deion Bain of the W.J. Mouat Hawks; defensive lineman Kent Hicks of the Robert Bateman Timberwolves; and receiver Dallas Yassinsky of the Abbotsford Collegiate Panthers.
