Abbotsford’s Galaxy Bowl was one of the host sites for the Youth Bowling Canada (YBC) national championships, which were held at various locations in the Greater Vancouver area on the weekend.

The five-pin junior girls and boys team events were contested at the local lanes, and Team B.C. won medals in both events.

The girls team representing the host province was from Prince George, and Lezzyl Aquino, Megs Reimer, Kassidy Johnson and Paige Meise combined to win the gold decisively with 16 wins in 21 games.

The B.C. boys team, comprised of Robert Levelton, Tomas Galus, Michael Byron and Noah Erickson, hailed from Port Coquitlam. They took bronze, edging Manitoba in a tiebreaker after both teams won 12 of 21 games.

Galaxy Bowl proprietor Steven Reynolds said his ears “were still ringing” after hosting the national championship events.

“There was a lot of enthusiasm,” he said. “It went really well – everyone had a great time.”
