W.J. Mouat grad Jade Trolland has been named the 2023-24 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women’s wrestler of the year.

The RMAC made the announcement on Wednesday (March 20) alongside its other major awards and all-conference rosters.

The awards are nominated and voted on by the league’s five head coaches.

Trolland, who competes for the SFU Red Leafs, closed the year with a sixth-place finish at the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships (NCWWC). She finished the 2023-24 campaign with a 28-4 record and helped SFU win the RMAC regular season crown.

Trolland was also named a first team all-conference selection after winning gold in the 136-pound weight class at the RMAC Women’s Wrestling Championships in February. Pitt Meadows product and SFU wrestler Marquesis Haintz was also named to the RMAC women’s first team all-conference.

She dominated the B.C. high school scene for years, winning gold in her division with the Hawks in both Grade 11 and 12. Trolland also captured a gold medal at the Canada Summer Games in 2017 and a bronze at the Juvenile Nationals in 2019.

She is expected to return to SFU for her senior year in 2024-25.
