After receiving considerable support to travel from the community through a GoFundMe, Abbotsford’s Hill sisters recently returned home with some hardware from the Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge World Championships.

The event ran in Tagaytay, Phillipines from Feb. 22 to 25.

Back in January, the sisters reached out to readers of the Abbotsford News to help them follow their dreams to compete at the event and the trip ended up being funded.

The results were spectacular for Katerina and Rose, as Katerina earned a silver medal in women’s skateboarding and Rose scored a bronze medal in women’s street luge.

Katerina also collected a bronze for the third fastest qualifying time and Rose took home a gold for the fastest qualifying time in her competition.

Katerina is now ranked second in the world for women’s downwhill skateboarding and Rose ranks third on the planet for women’s street luge.

“Very excited to have gotten second place at the World Skate Games,” Katerina stated on her Instagram page. “Thank you to everyone who’s supported me and my sisters and helped make this happen.”

The sisters plan to next attend a world championship event in Italy this September. They will also be competing at smaller events in and around the Pacific Northwest in the spring and summer.
