Leland Irving and the Abbotsford Heat smothered the Rochester Americans on Wednesday evening, winning 1-0 to conclude a season-high 10-game road trip.
Irving stopped all 30 shots the Amerks directed his way, including 15 during a frantic third period, to earn his fourth shutout and AHL-leading 22nd victory of the season.
Matt Keith, with his team-high 17th of the campaign, accounted for the lone goal of the game at 12:30 of the second period, with Gaelan Patterson and T.J. Brodie picking up assists.
With the victory, the Heat are able to boast an above-.500 record on the road trip at 5-4-1. They sit at 25-22-2-5 overall for 57 points, tied with the Toronto Marlies for fourth in the AHL's North Division. Rochester (21-25-3-2) is seventh in the division.
The Heat return to the friendly confines of the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre for a Friday-Saturday set against the Toronto Marlies.
