I am a little confused at Mayor Banman’s willingness to look at forming a new regional district with Langley and possibly leaving the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD).
Is he forgetting that one of the reasons he was elected was his opposition to leaving the FVRD?
Langley may find it even harder and expensive to leave Metro, maybe more than for Abbotsford to leave the FVRD. On the other hand, could Langley be contemplating joining the FVRD, or is it just two municipalities trying to shirk contractual responsibilities entered into in good faith a long time ago? Either way, it could all end up being penny wise and pound foolish.
Maybe it’s just a ploy by Langley Township Mayor Jack Froese to pressure TransLink into going ahead with postponed expansions.
No matter what, I’m sure that both mayors will enjoy discussing it over a nice lunch!
