LETTER: Demand milk from another species

Re: Chilliwack Dairy Farm animal cruelty video

Oh dear dairy industry, do not dismay. We consumers will soon forget the images we saw of alleged cow abuse. We know this is an isolated incident, just like all undercover footage is.How dare radical groups like Mercy For Animals Canada taint your industry, and interfere with your livelihood.

We must support the genetic manipulation of cows to ensure they produce the maximum amount of what is rightfully ours  – calves’ milk. It is the only source of calcium humans need ingest.

Calves enjoy being ripped from their mothers within 48 hours and standing terrified in the auction ring, being bid on like an inanimate object. And the milking cows, which are often named, truly are loved by their master. This affection is especially evident when Daisy no longer produces enough milk and is loaded up for a fun ride to the slaughterhouse.

I urge all citizens to continue using their purchasing power to demand milk from another species. And do not worry about farm animal suffering. Now that this isolated event has been exposed, you can go back to being complacent, assured that our government and the CDF will take care of everything.
