“Job action” is the recurring phrase in the News article. My reading automatically inserts an “in” thus, job “inaction.”
Withdrawal of services, or doing less in order to get more salary, doubling bereavement leave (from five to 10 days), and 26 weeks off a year to provide care for “... any person.” Twenty-six times five equals 130 teaching days out of 192 (?) prescribed days.
I began my short-lived teaching career (seven years) in District 34. I loved my job. When I got married in 1957, I asked the school board for Friday afternoon off to prepare for the evening wedding. The answer was no.
Someone said “it’s a shame”, about present BCTF “job (in)action.” I agree, and include my 1957 refusal by the school board, also a shame.
