Displaying grace under fire

A tip of the hat to (Abbotsford Police) Constable Christopher Troughton for the personal bravery he displayed in saving a life and not taking one, given the provocation.

Being a police officer is undoubtedly one of the most difficult tasks there is, and to have it compounded by a very unhappy man swinging a large pole at your head and asking you to shoot him doesn’t really help matters.

Constable Troughton stood his ground, but more importantly, he cared enough as a human being in a highly charged moment to find a somewhat more perilous solution to the unfolding drama.

It makes us all proud of him for not taking a more tragic course of action.

He made the right choice and spared a life.

It is not always possible, but when it happens it is wonderful and inspires all of us to believe that there is something more to this life than violence and shattered dreams.

There is inspiration.

Constable Troughton certainly demonstrates grace under fire.
