CMBs a step in wrong direction

Re: Rash of Canada Post mailbox vandalism, Feb. 7 edition.

Sadly, the new year is going to look much like 2013, which had almost 5,000 community mailbox (CMB) theft-related incidents just in B.C. alone.

Can we ask why Canada Post is moving forward with their plans to put Canadians who aren’t already blessed with these “secure” mailboxes at  risk by ending door-to-door delivery?

Switching to these mailboxes in this region, where half of the country’s mail theft takes place, is a big step in the wrong direction.

The Canada Post customer website states that community mailboxes are “a secure and convenient, one-stop pick up.”

I guess at least half of that statement is true, to the thieves anyway.
