AYLING. Mrs. Winnifred Grace "Winnie" Ayling late of Abbotsford, BC passed away on November 17, 2011 at the age of 88 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Mom was the youngest of 3 children born to Robert and Martha Smith. She was born on April 28, 1923 in Chilliwack, BC along with twin brother, Jim. Mom lived in Majuba Hill area, Sumas Prairie and Huntingdon before moving to the farm on Bateman Road (now Dutra Farm). In 1938, she met Elgin Ayling and they married in 1942. They had two daughters, Linda born in 1942 and Carol in 1946. Mom and Dad enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Dad passed away July 25, 1992. Mom continued to live in the original Ayling home until 1994 when she had a new home built by Ridgetop Builders. She enjoyed many good years there, tending to her flower beds and her cat Duchess. A debilitating illness took over her life and the last five years had not been kind to her. Earlier in her life she used to crochet, embroider and knit - knitting a number of Maxim sweaters. She was a kind loving person who enjoyed her family which included her 2 daughters, 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 11 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11:00 am at Henderson's Funeral Home at 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC. Interment will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, SPCA or a charity of your choice.
