SWAIN - Wilfred Edward (Ted). Ted passed away peacefully on the 13th of January, 2012 at St. Charles Manor in Victoria, BC. Born in Liverpool England on 7 May 1922 he was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Hazel who passed away in 2001. Ted is survived by his three children, Patricia Lehmann (Hans) of Roberts Creek, BC, Iain Swain (Barbara) of Victoria, and Bruce Swain (Maria) of Coquitlam, BC, grandchildren Brian, Sean, Tiffany, Travis, Christopher and Elizabeth and several great grandchildren. Ted served in the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm during WWII, flying in Swordfish throughout the Mediterranean and Atlantic. After the war Ted became a teacher and met his wife Hazel at his first school. He taught mathematics in Abbotsford School from 1967-76 and later became an Adult Educator working in several government positions. Throughout his life Ted was an active member of service clubs, including the Masonic Lodge in the UK and the Lions Club in Abbotsford. Ted will be interred at Hatley Park Memorial Gardens in Victoria after cremation. A service and gathering of close friends and family will take place in the near future at a time to be announced.
