SIMPSON; Sylvia Alice

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing mother, Sylvia Alice Simpson on July 8, 2016 at the age of 86. She is survived by her four children, Nicola (Barrie), Simon (Eden), Lindsey (Joseph) and Jennifer (Benoit); two sisters, Kay (Jorg) and Sheila; two nieces, Ann (Ian) and Rebecca; one nephew, Nigel (Annerose); and eleven grandchildren, the source of her greatest happiness. Sylvia was born in Stamford, England and raised in the nearby town of Tinwell. She immigrated to Canada in 1956. Settling initially in Regina, it was only two years before she made her journey west to Abbotsford and beautiful British Columbia, where she spent the rest of her life. Family and friends were Sylvia’s passion and delight. She loved to host and entertain. Sylvia rejoiced in family accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to celebrate special events or milestones. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and knitter as well as a voracious reader, dedicated crossword solver, and phenomenal cook. Sylvia’s cookies were epic. She travelled extensively and this passion, along with her love of family, culminated in a family reunion in Hawaii for her 85th birthday. Twenty-four family members gathered in Maui for ten days of exploring, rabble-rousing, singing and celebration. Sylvia was never so happy as when surrounded by her family and beloved grandchildren. We will remember her as a kind and loving person who was as beautiful inside as out. We will miss her dearly for the rest of our lives but she has left us with a beautiful gift: her positive attitude, her passion for life and her unconditional love. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Trinity Memorial United Church, 33737 George Ferguson Way, Abbotsford, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Tributes and condolences may be left at:
