December 16, 1959 - April 23, 2024

Sherri Nola Clara Hemery (64) passed away peacefully in St. Paul's Hospital on April 23, 2024 after a determined and courageous battle, with Kevin, her loving husband of 39 years, and friends by her side.

Sherri was born and raised in Edmonton, AB and moved to Abbotsford, BC in 1981 where she met Kevin. Three years later they married and were inseparable ever since.

Sherri worked for the Vancouver Sun and Province newspapers for 18 years, ensuring the timely distribution throughout the Lower Mainland. She went on to continue her career in the newspaper industry for 10 more years with Black Press Media before retiring.

Sherri's days were kept busy caring for her parents and keeping Kevin organized, accompanying him on all his work trips to the Okanagan.

Sherri and Kevin enjoyed many trips abroad, traveling to Europe, Hong Kong, Macau and Mexico to name just a few of their favourite places. Sherri also enjoyed her trips to Vegas, with friends joining them often. She loved baseball and would go on yearly trips to Arizona to watch the MLB Spring Training and was also an avid Abbotsford Canucks fan as well as a fan of the PGA.

Being diagnosed at an early age with Rheumatoid Arthritis, she never let it define her or deter her. From rides in hot air balloons with friends in California to e-biking throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and the Okanagan, she lived her life to the fullest with her best friend, Kevin, by her side.

Sherri is lovingly remembered by her husband, Kevin, her parents, Gloria and Melvin, brothers, Barry (Kathleen), and Parry (Donna), sister-in-law, Sandra, niece, Amanda, and nephews, Nathan, Jarrad, Ryan, Kayden and Cory as well as numerous friends and co-workers.

Sherri touched all of our lives with her positive, compassionate, and generous personality. Her exemplary strength, vibrant disposition and mischievous sense of humour will be sorely missed. While our hearts are forever broken, losing her much too soon, we know the world is a better place because she lived. And knowing Sherri, she is looking down upon on us, wishing us well, since feeling sorry for herself never crossed her mind.

Special thanks to Dr. Megan Hiltz, Rheumatologist, Dr. Jody Ching, Abbotsford General Practitioner, the countless Doctors and Nurses in ICU and CICU at St. Paul's and our real life angel, Fiona Howarth, Clinical Nurse Specialist, with Fraser Health who was always there.
