ROBERT MACFARLANE

April 10, 2003

Robert Patrick "Bob" born February 6, 1922 passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on April 10, 2003 after a long and courageous battle with an ailing heart. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Lia, his daughter Donna Durkin, son David Macfarlane (Tara O'Hara), son John and son Bo (Jennifer) Macfarlane as well as his grandchildren, great- grandchildren and many other realatives and friends.


Bob was predeceased by his son-in-law Gary Durkin and his sister Margaret Bath.


Bob started his life in Montreal where he was active in football and hockey and played professional football for the Montreal Allouetes and played Major Junior Hockey for the Montreal Royals. Bob enlisted in the navy at the start of WW11 and served as an officer tasked with mid-ocean escorts from Nova Scotia to Europe. He moved to Vancouver in 1949 where he worked for the Ford Motor Co. for 20 years and later with Corrections Canada for 20 years; retiring in 1987.


Bob's passions in life were his family, grandchildren and golf (which he had 3 holes in one!!). He was an active and involved father to all his children; coaching, managing and umpiring all of us and he was our mentor. Bob was actively involved in his church.


A celebration of Bob's life April 16, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in Cascade Community Church, 35190 Delair Road, Abbotsford. Donations to Care and Share Shelter, c/o Cascade Community Church can be made in Bob's memory.
