Ricky Skene, 72, of Abbotsford B.C. died peacefully on June 2, 2023, surrounded by the close friends that were her family of choice.
Ricky was born in Victoria, B.C. and, after her mother Margot's death, was raised by her grandparents, Edward and Nellie Skene in Sorrento, B.C. Ricky's childhood memories included riding horses and swimming in the Shuswap Lake, often at the same time.
Ricky's career was always in the service of making life better for others. She worked at the Vancouver General Hospital (1970-73), Wildwood Training Centre (1974-87), and the Ministry of Social Development (1987-2012).
In her retirement she was a passionate board member and volunteer for Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Society, Abbotsford Literacy Matters, Hidden Treasures Thrift Store, and the Bibles for Mission Thrift Store.
A gifted potter and bibliophile, Ricky will be dearly missed and always remembered.
A private celebration of life will be held in Ricky's honor.
