November 15, 1955 - August 26, 2022
Rick was born in Murrayville, Langley, BC on November 15 1955, to parents Albert and Lorna Keras (nee Lawrence).
Rick passed away in the early morning hours of August 26th, 2022 after a short but valiant battle with cancer surrounded by members of his family. Those that knew Rick would attest to the fierce fortitude, and strength this man portrayed in life.
He was also one of the most kind hearted gentlemen, that most people would ever have had the pleasure to meet.
Rick had a zest for life, and the adventures that are being told by his wife, children, family members and friends confirm how this man lived; it was a very full life. His family was the most important facet of his life, and he loved them all.
Anyone could see the devotion he had for them. It was also not out of character to identify someone who needed help, and he would welcome them into his home and family. He would help them to find stability as well he would impart wisdom, and affection on all of them.
Rick was a Master Millwright during the first half of his working life, mainly in the animal and aquatic feed industry. He was an astute businessman and with his brothers they purchased and ran UAS Canada in Abbotsford since the 1990's and built it into a successful manufacturing company selling cutting edge odour elimination technology world wide.
Rick was a world traveller due to his business commitments; he was fortunate to see the many cultures and visit numerous countries around this world. The result of this travelling, he was a man who accepted everyone as they were and who they were. He embraced diversity, was generous with himself and his family sharing it will all that he came in contact with.
Rick is survived by his wife of 32 years Clarinda, daughter Cheryl Bailey, daughter Jennifer Keras (Jason), son Matthew Keras (Robynn), daughter Jacquie Harder (Lucas), daughter Alicia Keras (Chris) and son Richard Keras (Kayse).
Rick was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Michael, Zoey, Tricia, Taylor, Anna, Sophia, Sam, Charlee, James, Lily, William, Wesley and great granddaughter Faith.
Richard was predeceased by his father Albert, mother Lorna, his brothers Ron, and Doug and survived by his remaining sibling Allan, Donald, Larry, Maureen, and Kathy.
Rick's joys were his family, his friends, his cultural heritage as a member of the Sts'ailes Coast Salish Nation, his Lithuanian heritage, travel, the family recreational paradise at Headquarters Bay, the ocean and its beauty, love of boating, and a fondness for his dogs.
Rick will be missed deeply by his family and friends.
