Phyllis Dianne Cherniwchan

With emotional hearts, we announce the passing of Phyllis Dianne Cherniwchan (nee Barkman), on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023.
A wife of 53 years to Dave, mother to Shannon, Denean (Jason), and David (Jolene); grandmother to Bryce (1989-2018), Mattius, Haven, Braeden, Montana, Baylee, Layne, Colby: great grandmother to Jasper.
Phyllis is also survived by her brothers, Burt (Yvonne) and Bob, and sisters Brenda (Ken) and Karen, plus dozens of nieces and nephews.
Phyllis passed away in her sleep on a beautiful sunny Wednesday morning, while holding the hand of Shannon, after battling health issues for the better part of 20-years.
Born in Steinbach, Manitoba, May 5, 1943, Phyllis settled in Abbotsford with husband, Dave, in 1969.
Through most of her career, she was a dental receptionist for the Abbotsford Dental Group. She was also a high profile cheerleader to many hockey and slo-pitch teams in town, as the family was very well known in the sporting community.
Phyllis is predeceased by her grandson Bryce, and her parents David and Dorothy Barkman.
She was a woman of strong faith in God and character. Her cooking will be missed, along with her beautiful smile and sense of humour. Most of all, she will be missed by many who had the pleasure of calling her Mom or Grandma.
Phyllis would tell you that her greatest accomplishment was being a grandmother to all children who needed a loving hug or cuddle.
A visitation for Phyllis will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10:00 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford.
