Ophelia Marie Ferraro

Ophelia Marie Ferraro passed away peacefully on July 6th, 2022 at the age of 97 in Abbotsford, BC. She was born on May 29th, 1925 in Nervesa della Battaglia, Italy to Ottavio and Ida Zanardo.
She immigrated to Canada at the age of two with her mother to reunite with her father where they farmed on Sumas Prairie. Ophelia spent most of her younger years milking cows and helping out on the family farm with her brother Egidio. She later met her husband, Eurelio, also a dairy farmer, and they had 5 children together. Ophelia was a very active member of the Upper Sumas Women's Institute and Upper Sumas Elementary PTA, where she attended school as a child as well as her children.
She loved arranging flowers, finding treasures at thrift stores, knitting and making crostoli at Christmas for family and friends. Ophelia was predeceased by Eurelio, her loving and supportive husband of 46 years.
Ophelia will be lovingly remembered by her children Norma (Jim), Linda (Rick), Carol (Larry), Gordon (Debbie) & Lorraine (BJ), her 11 grandchildren Dale, Craig & Andrea Latin, Angela Willmott, Tanya, Michelle & Russell Foster, Shannon & Brad Ferraro, Rene Klassen & Dayne Gagnon and 9 great-grandchildren Lincoln, Ava, Mila, Nixie, Rae, Ben, Rory, Cayson & Gracie.
A funeral service will be held at St. Ann's Church in Abbotsford, on Thursday, July 14th, 2022 at 11 am. Prayers are the evening before at 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon or the BC Cancer Foundation.
