Mona Funk, long time pioneer of Abbotsford, B.C. Passed away peacefully at Bevan Lodge at the age of 92 on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
Mona was born and raised on Sumas Prairie. She was the oldest of the family of 11 children. Mona was married to Melvin Funk in Abbotsford, B.C. on August 28, 1948. They lived on Walker Crescent, in Abbotsford for their married lives. Mona raised four children and maintained a small acreage with animals and her garden. Mona was always hard working with a smile and a helping hand for people. She enjoyed baking, canning, enjoyed her yard. She worked with Melvin in their business Coast Form Rentals helping with the bookkeeping.
They both enjoyed travelling and being part of an antique car club. She enjoyed travelling to Reno by bus for short excursions. Mona belonged to the Pioneer club she remained on the committee for many years.
She is survived by four children, Bob, wife LaVerne and sons Trevor and Derek (Katie), Terry, husband Rick, with daughter Tanis (Jason), Bruce, wife Michelle with Mitchell, Courtney and Rylee. Tracey, husband Bernard and daughter Ashley.
She will be lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren and her seven great grandchildren, Chloe, Brock, Brynn, Mila, Charlee, Landon and Demi.
Later in the spring her children will have a celebration of her life.
