Mathilde (Tilly) MANTEI-KRAHN

October 10, 2006

Mathilde (Tilly) Krahn [Mantei] went to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 10, 2006 in the MSA Hospital. One week short of her 94th birthday. She was born on October 17,1912 in Steinbach, Manitoba to William and Amelia Krantz. the oldest of 12 children – six boys and six girls.

Mom is survived by her four children: daughters: Joyce Ott (Ewald), Abbotsford, BC; Betty (Ralph) Nywening Kelowna, BC; Helen (George) Lutz Chilliwack, BC and one son Bob Mantei (Randi) Richmond, BC. She was blessed with seven grandchildren who were the light of her life: Lori Hoffman (Mark) and Judy Ediger (daughters of Betty) Greg and Matt Lutz, Jennifer Jakubec (Jon), and Courtney and Marlee Mantei. Her other joy was her two great-grandchildren Nolan and Ella Jakubec. Her sister, Lillian Beck, Armstrong, BC and her brother, Marvin Krantz, Grande Prairie, Alberta, also survive her. She has many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was blessed with many friends who considered her “Mom”. Predeceased by her first husband Louie Mantei in 1967 [married 31 yrs] and her second husband Pete Krahn in 1991 [married 22 yrs].

After the death of her second husband, mom settled in to a peaceful and fulfilling last few years. She enjoyed her home, living on her own until she was hospitalized. She knitted and baked up a storm. She always had something to give you when you went home. At the age of 92 she voluntarily gave up her drivers licence. Mom lived each day to the fullest even with her aches and pains. She loved her Lord to whom she had given her heart in her youth. We will miss her so much – but we have the confidence we will meet again!
