Marjorie Beth Dykstra was "...translated at the Lord's command" to live with her Lord in His heaven forever, after she died in her sleep in the early hours of Tuesday February 20, 2024.
Marjorie Beth Dykstra (nee Hassing) was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and grew up there. She left home to attend college in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and graduated with a teacher's degree in 1968.
She married Gordon Dykstra in 1967. After graduating she and Gordon moved to Nova Scotia where Majorie taught school while Gordon attended law school. They moved to Vancouver where she taught elementary school while Gordon finished law school at UBC.
A few years later Marjorie and Gordon started a family and over the years were blessed with three children, Jonathan (Erika), Cornell (Johanna), and Elizabeth (Peter) and with three grandchildren, Rafe, Cyrus and Jacob.
Marjorie loved her family and spent her time raising her children. Any time left would be spent in the garden and doing embroidery. When Gordon started practicing law in his own office, Marjorie joined the staff and became the administrator and bookkeeper of the office.
After the children left the family home Marjorie developed a love for quilting. Over the following years she made many quilts for her children and for her grandchildren. Many quilts were left to decorate her home.
Her cheerful demeanour and loving helpfulness will be sorely missed. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, March 7th at 11:30 am at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, located at 3215 Trethewey Street, Abbotsford, BC.
