Marguerite Mary Thornton. July 21, 1945 - July 18, 2013. Marguerite Mary Thornton, 67 passed away on Friday, July 18, 2013 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in Abbotsford, British Columbia. She was born on July 21st, 1945 in Bonnyville, Alberta to Lachlan Joseph MacMillan, and Bridget ("Pat") Mary (O'Dwyer) MacMillan. Marguerite grew up in Alberta and graduated from Notre Dame College in Nelson, British Columbia in 1962. She graduated from Simon Fraser University in 1978 and spent over 25 years teaching elementary school before retiring in 1999. Marguerite married Chester in 1991 in Abbotsford, British Columbia. They were happily married for 22 years. Marguerite was preceded in death by Pat, Lachlan and her sister Cathy. Marguerite is survived by husband Chester, sister Bridget, son Jim, daughters Cher and Cindy and grandchildren Calem, Amalea, Soren, Rorik, Seth, Rowen and Fenton. Marguerite was an avid and adventurous traveler, visiting The Galapagos Islands, China, Israel and dozens of other countries. Thousands of photos she collected in scrapbooks document the friends she made wherever she went, most of all in the places closest to home. A celebration of life will be held at Marguerite and Chester's home on August 17, 2013.
