Margaret Groening passed away into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the age of 100 years while a resident at Weatherby 2 Pavilion, Peace Arch Hospital, having previously lived in the Abbotsford area for over 65 years. She was predeceased by David Martens, her husband of 33 years and her second husband Jacob Groening of 17 years. She is survived by her children Marlene (Harry) Unruh, Linda (Ron) Starkenburg, Lori (Guy) Sinclair, Helen (Gary) Coughlin, Marianne (Tim) Hill, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, step-daughter Hilde (John) Wiebe, step-daughter-in-law Helga (Dieter) Gotthardt, 4 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, her sister Katherine Goertzen, sisters-in-law Adeline Goertzen and Susan Goertzen, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2 from 7 - 9 pm at the Alternative Funeral Home, 3070 -275A Street, Aldergrove. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Clearbrook MB Church 2719 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford on May 3 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, you may choose to give to Avant Ministries Canada.
