December 31, 1937 - September 21, 2020
1937-2020 ~ Margaret Ann (Ann) McDonald passed away peacefully on September 21st, 2020 at the age of 82, surrounded by family.
Ann was born on New Year's Eve 1937 in Williams Lake, BC as the youngest of Percy and Elizabeth Ogden's six children.
She spent her childhood years on the family's cattle ranch in Lac la Hache, attending school in Vancouver, Williams Lake and Abbotsford. It was in Abbotsford where she met her husband Michael in 1953. After a prolonged courtship they were married in April 1960 and were just one month shy of celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary when Mike passed away in March of this year.
During their nearly 60 years of marriage, they were the parents of two children, Michelle and Bruce and grandparents to Kurtis of whom they were immensely proud.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, Ann cherished her family and friends above all else. Both friends and strangers alike were met with the same easy smile and twinkling eyes. She was someone you wanted to know.
Ann was generous, loyal and supportive as a wife, mother and friend. Smart and funny and humble, she often boasted of her charmed life. Ann and Mike were blessed with lifelong friends who, tongue-in-cheek, dubbed themselves as "Abbotsford's Finest", but who were truly some of the finest friends a person could have.
Ann loved her Wednesday bowling league with the girls, crossword puzzles, Wheel of Fortune and trips to the casino, where few people could match her luck.
Dinner and drinks with friends were always fun. She was quick witted, had a steel trap mind and a memory for details. She also loved to travel and spend time in Palm Springs. But above all else it was pride in her family and her heritage that meant the most. Spending time with family was the most important part of her life.
The last of the Ogden siblings, Ann is survived by her children Michelle (Kevin) Wheeler and Bruce (Darryl Fisher) McDonald and her grandson Kurtis Wheeler.
The family would like to thank the staff at Trillium Bevan Lodge for the excellent care that Ann received over these difficult last 6 months during the pandemic.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
